Fiction Acquisitions Update

Novella Collections:
Thanks to the many authors (and agents) who worked quickly to fill my inbox with lots of very interesting novella collection proposals to choose from. At this point I've contracted almost all that I'm going to need for 2012. I just have to decide on a couple Christmas ones. So, I really don't need any new proposals.

At this moment, I don't know what the plan for novella collections will be for 2013, but I do hope I can contract some more. They are a lot of fun to work on.

State Romances:
This fall we are kicking off a new line of romances that -- similar to our romance collections -- focus strongly on a state location. The first two books will be from Erica Vetsch and Kim O'Brien.

I've already filled most all my 2012 slots. I expect by June or July, I'll be ready to start filling some 2013 slots. We are doing a fairly equal number of historical and contemporary settings. So, if you have an 80,000-word romance idea for this line, you might want to start putting a proposal together. The story should stand alone. We don't plan any series within the line.

This line is a great way to showcase some of our best Heartsong Presents authors.

Releasing September 2011.

I want to feature these books on my blog. Have someone in marketing contact me soon. The second half of the year is starting to fill up.

Thank you for the update, Becky, and thank you for the opportunity to join in on these projects.

Love those book covers.

I agree with the others, those covers are amazing. Then again, I've always been pleased with the Barbour cover design artists. They're definitely among my favorites.

Now, time to brush up on those longer books that had too much happening for the shorter Heartsongs. :)

Thanks for the update, Becky! Excited to work with you on both. And totally agree with Ronie on the cover! You guys are doing AMAZING work on them! I expect Ohio Brides to fly off the shelves on the strength of the cover, and can't wait to see what y'all work up for the new projects!

Oh, I meant to ask. About the state romances, how often will these release? 1 or 2 per month? Thanks!

The covers are beautiful!

Can anyone submit a proposal for the state series?

And if this answer is a "yes" do the submissions go to Barbour Books?
