Goosebumps - God Provides

Dear friends,

This afternoon, the doctors here in CA have pinpointed a rather uncommon virus in David that is found in Ohio and the northeast. (Which means he contracted it before we left home.)

Providentially, the infectious disease doctor here in Redding did his residency in Akron and his major professor is the ultimate authority in the US on this virus. The doctor called his professor back in Ohio and consulted with him on David's case. According to the doctor today, David was so sick when he came into the emergency room that he had a 1-in-5 chance of dying before they could get his various "issues" under control. Praise the Lord, He guided us to just the right hospital with just the right doctor who could get us the answers we needed!

Just had to share the praise report. It's possible that they'll release David tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday, but the doctor wants him to rest up in the hotel for a couple of days before he attempts a flight. He said David will still feel pretty sick for at least a couple of weeks. At least he can recuperate at home. The doctor here wants him to follow up with the infectious disease doctor back in Ohio when we get back.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers! They truly made a difference.

Love to all,
Susan Downs

So sorry to hear of your husbands illness. We live in Tennessee and there is a disease common to this area called hystoplasmosis. It is a fungus in the lungs. He almost died before we were able to find a doctor who could help him. Talking about God leading us in the right direction? Well, He led us to a doctor who had studied under a doctor in Nashville that found that sulphur drugs would treat the fungus. How fortunate we were. Our son recovered. He is married with three wonderful children. I thank God everyday for all the blessing we have gotten from Him. I will be praying for you and your husband.

What an awesome testimony! I'm glad his illness was diagnosed quickly and that you weren't in the middle of nowhere when this happened.

I hope you get him settled at home soon.

This is truly His workings. Thank you, GOD!

That's so like our God, isn't it, to provide just what we need when we need it. I have goosebumps too!

We will continue to pray for your husband and for a safe recovery.

How exciting to see God work. Life is tough! God is good! I'm praying for you and your husband, Susan. Tell your husband to listen to the doctor about resting even if your husband feels better. These nasty bugs have a way of sneaking up from behind and clobbering a person again during recovery. God speed!

Did Susan and David get home yet? Did they make the plane? I just read one of those news stories about a plane left sitting on the runway for ... seven hours maybe. I prayed that wasn't the one Susan was on.
Thank heaven's we have God to help us through these hard times. A comforter who is right on that motorcycle with us, who never takes a vacation from us, but goes along on ours.
