Nothing to Say

The saying goes that when you have nothing good to say, then say nothing at all.

Due to a head full of sinus sludge, I've struggled today to write anything good, even though I'm under a deadline to get marketing copy done.

So, when I can't seem to concentrate, I find myself floating from one thing to the next. I've read a lot of author blogs today.

Over on Petticoats & Pistols where Mary Connealy hangs out, I enjoyed a discussion of the average age in 1800s. I was just having a similar discussion with someone about the average age being 40 and how that immediately makes us think no one 50 or older was walking around those days.

Through a bunny trail that may have started with Angela Hunt's blog, I found this post by pastor and author John Piper. The October 22 article is "Let Christians Vote as if They Were Not Voting," and I'm now (of course because I'm rushing to end my day) having trouble loading the site. You should find it at www.desiringgod.org/Blog.

It is a good reminder of how we need to remain grounded in Christ no matter how the world changes around us and the insight applies to much more than just the current voting issues, so I thought you might enjoy reading it too in place of any insight from me.

Hopefully I'll have a book preview for you tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that you're sick, Becky. I hope you get better quickly.

I don't personally have a blog, but if you haven't visited www.bustlesandspurs.com you might want to. Several past and present Barbour authors are regular contributors to this new blog that focuses on Christian fiction with a western flair.

I read the blog you referred us to with great interest. I'm honestly not sure I understood it all, though! I voted early and was really impressed with how many first-time voters were in line to cast their votes. I blogged about it and how great it was to vote with my daughter in her first presidential election. I was raised in a family that took voting rights very seriously, and I'm passing that on to my children.

I agree with Patti Jo--that picture is beautiful! Is it yours? When I lived in the country, the animals would have taken one look, said, "FEAST TIME!" and it'd have all been gone in the morning--at least the pumpkins and the Indian corn.

The picture is from my trip to NC a week ago. It was taken at the main building of the Billy Graham training center at The Cove near Asheville.

AH, yes, here comes winter and colds and flu.
Yuck. Hang in there Becky. I hope you're getting your winter illness over with now for the whole season.

God bless you.
And you mentioned the Petticoats and Pistols blog about age, but did you notice mine...on lobotomies???

A classic example of the dangers of doing historical research.

I'm not going to post a link. It's pretty icky!

Becky,

I think you said quite a lot, through the John Piper blog especially, for someone with "Nothing to Say."

I'm sorry you're sick and hope you feel better soon. I'm not sick but have a sense of restlessness today. Not settling down to anything very long, feeling pulled in many directions. So Piper's words were helpful.

Thanks for making the effort.
