Purging: Proposals

Soon some of you will notice a trend in the return of proposals for 4-in-1 novella collections. I need to purge my files of such proposals.

For 2008, we only purchased 4 novella collections with Christmas themes. It is likely we'll do only that much for 2009. So, I'm closing the door on proposals for novella collections that are not Christmas related.

Story collections still do well for Barbour, but we are keeping our list full with collections that are generated from existing books from the Heartsong romance line -- and soon from the mystery line. Also, the newly-written novellas take up more of our editors' time and effort that could be spent on other things.

We hope you realize that Barbour still has many opportunities for an unpublished author to get published. We'll let you know when and if our interest in novellas changes.

I echo Paige's remark. What a great way to stay on top of everything that's happening. You gals should be commended for this ingenious idea. I've loved coming here to read the latest on my publishing house. :)

It makes sense to do this and I know you are moving ahead with many more projects that readers will equally enjoy. I,too, appreciate keeping up with you all at Barbour through this blog. Great forum.
