Sorry the Edit Café has been so quiet lately. Susan and I were stunned speechless after reading JoAnne’s hot phrases. (Just kidding!) Really, Susan was attending a funeral while I was battling round 2 of an intestinal bug. JoAnne had to hold the fiction fort down alone.

I won’t bore you with the details, but it seems going to the doctor for these kinds of things confirms little more than the fact that I’ll live. But I have to feel deathly ill to go to the doctor, period. Still, examine rooms are great places for reading a book while you wait 30 minutes for a 7-minute consultation. So I took a trip to Scotland with Liz Curtis Higg’s My Heart's in the Lowlands. I never thought I’d want to read second person perspective, but I can really hear Liz’s voice through this and am enjoying it. I’d love to go back to Scotland and spend more time exploring the villages.

I have a couple new Barbour releases I look forward to telling you about, and I do intend to get back to posting those on Tuesdays.

I’ve managed to keep pretty well up-to-date on my email box, and my desk looks only slightly scary. It is the reading, though, that I have trouble keeping up with. And since I’ve been sick, as soon as I take a manuscript in hand, I seem to fall right to sleep. YAWN!

I can tell I’ve been off caffeine for almost 2 weeks. So in the spirit of editors’ dependence on coffee and other caffeine-rich beverages, I’m posting this comic I’ve had in my office for a long time.
