A Fresh New Year

Hello again to whoever is still reading this blog! I hope you all had wonderful holidays. (The picture is of me with my baby dolls and their baby dolls on Christmas morning.)

It’s start of a fresh new year. Since “January in NE Ohio” is just another way to say “super cold and snow”, there’s not a whole lot I like about this month. But I do like new calendars. I have five of them, in fact. Two were gifts, and I bought three for myself since I couldn’t figure out exactly which one I’d like best to keep track of our little family in 2011. I’m still deciding. Good thing none of them cost me more than $4.

With the start of the new year, we’re trying to be better bloggers. And with Heartsong Presents, we’re brainstorming new ways to attract more members and keep existing members excited about the club. If you have any great ideas you’d like to share for our Heartsong newsletter, Romantic Notions, or the Heartsong blog, website or Facebook page, we’d love to hear them!

And because, try as I might, I can’t seem to find much I like about the month of January, I’d love to hear what you like about it. Help me get a better perspective than "cabin fever month", please. :)

Happy New Year!

Bleh--it's cabin fever month here too! Sub-zero temps in AZ seems wrong on so many levels.

At least in January you get to open your new calendars :D Mine is I Love Lucy.

One of the things I like about January is the clearing of the decks for my bookkeeping job. Last night I emptied the file-cabinet of 2010 paperwork and put it into storage, leaving room for 2011.

January is also my son's birthday, so there's that to look forward to in a couple weeks.

Y'all make me glad I live in Tennessee! It's about 46 today and sunny. JoAnne, I love calendars; I have three hanging calendars in my offices, more for the artwork than the dates (Outlook reminders make sure I get places on time). Hope y'all thaw out soon!

I made the mistake of buying a calendar with horses on it. My 2-year-old is obsessed with it and has pretty much ripped it to shreds. I like January because it’s one month closer to spring. :)

I like January because our daughter was a New Year's baby. The 1st is such a fun day for our family. My hubby's birthday is coming up on the 11th. Lots of celebrating this month. =)

Cabin fever here in Maine will last until about May so I'm holding on tight! All I can say is thank the Lord for books! But I'm sure your little girls will keep you busy and getting outdoors helps.

As far as suggestions go, I think it would be great if you encourage your authors to link to your blog, maybe even provide a special badge. Contests are always helpful, too, as they encourage those participating to publicize who is hosting the contest.

Happy New Year!

My granddaughter was born in January, so it's a good month in my book.

LOVE the cute picture of you and your baby dolls, JoAnne! ~ My new son-in-law has a January birthday, so that is special for our family. ~ And I must admit...here in Georgia I can handle the cold, crisp winter air much better than our stifling heat and HUMIDITY! (I would love some of your snow, if you want to send some down south, LOL!). Blessings, Patti Jo :)

Hmm, January. Well since winter doesn't really start in Colorado Springs until this month (we had 50-degree temps on Christmas!), it's definitely cabin fever time. But it's also a new year, a fresh start, and my dad's birthday this month.

And this year, January's fantastic because I just got my first advance on my new contract and book. So, thanks JoAnne for making January a reason to put a smile on my face this year. :)

Even though this January started out with tornadoes going through Mississippi and school is starting back, I love this one. Diane's and my first 3-in-1, "Tennessee Brides," is releasing this month! I have to say I love cold weather, too, so it is not all bad.

What a beautiful picture! And it's so nice to see new postings on The Edit Cafe.

We're getting a snow storm today in CT, so we'll be in for the day.

I guess I'd say January is a month of hope--starting with new dreams for a new year.

Your little girls are so sweet, JoAnne!

I love January because I can make a new start. And as other Coloradoans have said, we haven't had much in the way of snow and cold yet. Colorado usually gets bad snowstorms in March or April -- right when we are hoping for Spring!

Normally in New Mexico we don't get this much snow and it never hangs hang around. But right before now we are going into two weeks of snow on the ground and temps below 20 and we're forecast to have another cold week and more snow. To beat the snow/cold blues I love having hot mocha handy, reading like a crazy woman and working on crafts and puzzles.

I just bought two new calendars too. They are very pretty, Thomas Kincaid wall calendars always seem to brighten my days.

Love the picture, JoAnne. Hang in there the days will fly by.

Oh, JoAnne, your photo brings back memories of when we were raising two sweet little girls! They're not so little anymore, and, um, rather on the tart side as grown-up moms themselves!

About the only thing I like about January is that the days are now getting longer instead of shorter. With any luck, winter is half over and spring is just around the corner. It can't come too soon for me!

Hello, JoAnne,

I am new to your blog and very happy to have discovered it. January in New Jersey is much like January in Ohio--bitterly cold and often snowy. Yet what I like most about this month is that I get to turn to a fresh page and start a new chapter in my life. Not that I can't do this every day, but there's something special about doing so in January.

P.S. Your children are beautiful! :)

Or when you're pregnant and 10 days overdue and hoping for a baby. Like my daughter in 2009. LOL! Let's pray this baby boy doesn't have the same experience. He's due April 8th.

Love the photo of your girls and their babies! I like snow...it's the cold, grey days Indiana gives us that I don't like so much. Must. Have. Sunshine!

Oh, my! Your daughters are adorable! :) I think that's the first picture I've ever seen of them...

What I love about January...
Well, it snowed yesterday for the first time this winter (didn't stick much, ground was too wet and not cold enough, but sure was pretty with big fluffy white flakes falling for HOURS! :D I'm a Texan, and we usually don't get much of that pretty white stuff in winter, so I'm a big time snow lover! lol
