Local Models on Book Covers

Duh! Your questions on yesterday's post (keep them coming) reminded me to post about this article that appeared in our local newspaper on Sunday. Robyn Martins is our lead graphic designer who has been with the company for nearly 20 years.

See article here: "Models Grace Covers of Romance Novels" from The Times-Reporter of Dover-New Philadelphia, Ohio.

The WIP covers below show how the model shots in the article will likely be used.

That was an interesting article. I've wondered before how you find all the pretty women who grace the Barbour covers.

The three cover designs you've shown here are gorgeous!! Can't wait to read these books.

Great article. The paper did a good job. It's neat to see and understand what is going on behind the scenes.

I first read that Times article thinking it said New York Times and man was I impressed, Becky.

Well, I'm still impressed but it's a little different.

Interesting info. do you ever focus more on the men on the covers?

Great article! I've noticed some Heartsong covers are illustrations and others use real people. Do the Heartsongs using real people have models for the covers, or are those covers stock photos?

Love the article. They did an excellent job. And I loved reading the behind the scenes on covers. My husband and I were just discussing this a few days ago. I knew a little about the process, but this is great.

Congrats to the 3 authors who had their books featured. :)

What a thrill to see my book up there and also the model being photographed for my cover alongside the newspaper article! I LOVE this cover, and seeing how it was done just adds to the joy. Barbour has wonderful covers. At my Barnes & Noble book signing last Monday, the customer relations manager commented on what great covers I had. Among the ones she commented on were one of the HP mysteries (Homicide at Blue Heron Lake) and one of my collections (Maine Brides). Thanks to everyone at Barbour!!

Wow, so cool to see my new cover up here! And after reading the article, I have a whole new appreciation for all the work that goes into creating an appealing cover. Thank you so much, Barbour, for putting so much time and effort into these gorgeous covers.

This is so neat, and I love the new covers. I'm not a fan of the 'headless heroine' style cover. I want to see their pretty faces. :)

I do LOVE these covers! I also like seeing these behind the scenes stories. A great cover makes readers pick up a book. At least this reader! :)
